Do you have a passion for motorcycling? Are you looking for a non-political club that supports all types of riding and racing? Looking for a club that actually spends more time riding than bench racing? What about a club that offers riding and racing for the whole family.  Social events and camping are also a big part of the club.  If we don’t have the fix you’re looking for, we’ll network you with the biking club that does.

SGMC is affiliated with other associations, such as the Alberta Off-Highway Vehicle Association, known simply as the AOHVA.  The AOHVA was created over 25 years ago by a diverse group of off-road enthusiasts concerned about the lack of a united front to represent the interests of off-road motorcyclists and ATV riders throughout the province of Alberta.  Since that time, the AOHVA has developed and maintained an on-going working relationship with the provincial government and local municipalities all over the province. 

Second Gear Motorcycle Club is an official member but we encourage you to also become a member of the AOHVA as an individual to increase motorcycle and ATV representation for Alberta.

The Second Gear Motorcycle Club is recognized by the Alberta Sustainable Resource Development (SRD) as a user group.  The club volunteers many hours each year to trail maintenance and other related work.  Watch for future volunteer days on our event calendar.

President, Siggi Pechout, an advocate for riding access since 1984, presently sits on the Stewardship Committee for the Ghost Area Management Plan progressively working to keep trails open and to access new ones.  Also, he sits on the Trail Sub-Committee that reviews trail proposals before presentation to the Ghost Stewardship Monitoring Group (GSMG) and also on the Camping Committee.

The more members the Second Gear Motorcycle Club has, the bigger the VOICE!

While you don’t have to be a SGMC member to race in the sanctioned events, you do need to be a member for any Closed-to-Club events i.e. youth, ladies, sportsman, dual sport.  The great part is that we’ve kept the cost low and have tried really hard to make family participation as inexpensive as possible.  With an annual family membership of $25 (or $20/individual), you do not require a competition license.  With entry fees of $25-30 per event, we hope we’ve open doors for the whole family to have some racing fun.  At the hare scramble events, there is also a FREE BBQ both Saturday and Sunday, lots of prizes and trophies/medals & goodie bags to all kids, trophies to 5^th place for adults. 

New website offers member management.  The job was just getting to be too much to update member information, mailouts, information emails.  We really needed help, so now, with our new website, you can update your own information when you log in with your email address.  Yeah!  Also, preregistration is a dream and really helps out the admin volunteers.  Member privileges includes access to FREE prizes that you register for online.  There are also times when we really need your help to volunteer, this is also easy to register for online.

SGMC does not believe in sponsorship hours. However if you stand next to the right person you could be scoring a race!

Joining the Second Gear Motorcycle Club is a great way to get the family together for some great racing.

There are classes off all skill sets, enabling all riders to enjoy the sport with the family and other competitors.
