Multi Skill Level Course Design
What is a hare scramble? A maximum loop distance of 25km, racing for the most laps completed in 2 hours. Ability & age classes offered; Novice, Intermediate, Expert, Pro, Veteran & Vet Expert (39+), SuperVet (49+), Legends (59+) and Women (the advanced women that want to race the large course). The high tech lap scoring system using a bar code (same system used by GNCC) offers detailed lap results. Great for checking out your lap consistency, overall position with other classes and fun for bench racing! Number plates are not required due to the bar codes, however, in the future, this may be enforced.
Mini Senior (12-15) class is for those youth that are ready to push themselves in preparation for Novice (sanctioned big course). They race at a separate time for one hour on the full course. Bike size is limited to of 150 4S/85cc 2S.
Five race series offers top competition WITH a fun factor. After all, isn’t that why we do this? Race locations vary from year to year through out Alberta. Keep in mind that Alberta and B.C. offers some of the best riding areas in North America!
Youth closed-to-club classes are designed for ability rather than age and bike size. We build confidence and foster sportsmanship. Older kids are great roll models for the little ones. They all race hard and have FUN! Trophies/medals & goody bags for every single kid as we believe they should all go home with something to remember their day and to feel special. All ages are welcome to race. Classes based on ability rather than age. Courses start small and in an open area for Pee Wee (this is the class for those with training wheels and the little ones), Pee Wee Advance, and Pee Wee Quad (small size quads e.g. 90cc, 110cc). Pee Wee Expert (fast kids on small bikes e.g. KTM50) run on a course about 1.5km that is normally a combination of open area and trails. Youth Novice, Youth Intermediate and Youth Expert race on larger course (approx. 3-5kms) on trails. The Youth series really prepares riders for the CMA sanctioned series when they are ready and of age (13+). They learn how to follow flags and other trail markers, sportsmanship on the trail, passing skills. Courses tend to be close to camp and with loads of sweepers on the trail to offer assistance.
Ladies and Ladies Advanced closed-to-club classes for the new racer or more novice ladies that are out for some fun. The ladies race on a shortened, less technical course for one hour. This is a great opportunity to prepare for the bigger courses or training to keep up with their quickly progressing family. The kids are so proud to have their mom’s racing…really cool. For the young ladies, it gives them a safe, non-intimidating environment to start out….then watch out! Many of our young ladies race both Ladies or Ladies Advance AND a Youth class.
Sportsman closed-to-club class is designed for the first time or beginner level racer. This is an advancing class to the main CMA sanctioned event. This is an opportunity for riders to compare their abilities to other riders and to learn how to follow a course and the skills that differentiate between trail riding and racing. The smaller classes are also less intimidating and they have the comfort of extra sweepers to help them out on the trail if they need it. Sportsman class races for 1hour on the same course as CMA sanctioned events but at a different time.
Dual Purpose (true) closed-to-club class started in 2007. Courses accommodate larger, heavier bikes taking the trail riding to the next level. What a blast! Racers are sporting huge smiles! Must have DOT tires.
