Mission:
To coordinate and provide competitive and recreational opportunities for all ages to enjoy off-road motor sports at a level appropriate to their ability and interest.
· Encourage participants to develop and improve their skills in an environment that promotes sportsmanship, a positive public image and appreciation for the sport.
· Focus on developing youth and adult participation.
· Expanding the level of competition in Alberta.
· As a family club, we promote family fun, safety and community.
· Provide an environment conducive to growth, social and skill development.
· Endeavor to be a responsible user group by promoting respect of the environment thereby participating in trail maintenance and clean up.
· Provide support and promotion of off- highway vehicle use.
Founded in 1999, the Second Gear Motorcycle Club, now a registered non-profit society (2009), promotes amateur off-road motorcycling and ATV events (both competitive and recreational). We had to change our name a bit to apply for society status, so over the next year we will start to face out Second Gear Club replacing it with Second Gear Motorcycle ClubThe SGC is 300 members strong aged from 2 to 70+. Core volunteer base of 60 plus members coordinate and organize 20-25 events annually.
Surprisingly, the club was formed by two guys, Siggi Pechout and Ken Brown, for the sole purpose of organizing and promoting one ann
ual cross-country event (the Extreme). Nicknamed ‘the Boulder Zone’ and designed more like the old-time styled cross countries of the ‘80’s & ‘90’s, you’ll know what I mean if you remember Brian Pierson. Ken thought up the name of the Second Gear Club for the reason that if you were in any higher gear than 2nd, you were mostly likely off the
